Roof waterproofing at the Balearic Islands University

Campus of the University of the Balearic Islands (UIB), Mallorca
System used:
Spray-applied rigid polyurethane foam, liquid waterproofing membrane, and reflective finish
The project at UIB involved the complete renewal of the waterproofing system on a flat roof previously coated with an aged acrylic system that no longer provided waterproofing guarantees.
The goal was to restore water protection, improve thermal insulation, and extend the lifespan of the roof.
Thanks to the combination of insulation and waterproofing, the system installed at the UIB provides energy efficiency, thermal comfort, and a high-performance solution adapted to the climatic conditions of Mallorca.
How we do it:
- Surface cleaning:
- : pressure washing with a hydro-cleaner to remove residues and ensure material adhesion.
- Thermal insulation:
- application of RAYSTON SPRAY FOAM HFO 40, spray-applied rigid polyurethane foam that provides thermal insulation and creates a continuous base.
- Hot-applied waterproofing:
- application of IMPERMAX H FLEX, a 100% solids hot-applied liquid polyurethane membrane that ensures elastic, durable, and joint-free waterproofing.
- Protective finish:
- application of COLODUR, a pigmented aliphatic topcoat that protects the system against UV rays and extends its service life.
